American Sokol’s 150th Anniversary Gala

November 14th, 2015 – Chicago Czech Center and The KMDF sponsored the 150th Anniversary Gala. The CCC Chair, Kristyna Pellouchoud Driehaus, was the event’s Co-Chair along with H.E. Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the United States of America, Petr Gandalovic.


Prague trip with American Friends of Czech Republic

October 4th – 12th, 2015 – a number of Chicago Czech Center directors traveled to Prague with AFoCR group to learn about current transatlantic relations and needs. Events included Vaclav Havel Awards Ceremony; political, economic, media, and NGO panels; meeting with Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka; meeting with Minister of Finance, Andrej Babis; meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lubomir Zaoralek, meeting with Minister for Human Rights, Equal Opportunities, and Legislation, Jiri Diensbier; meeting with minister of Defense, Martin Stropnicky; meeting with House Speaker, Jan Hamacek. Important event was also the Transfer Ceremony of AFoCR’s Wilson Monument to City of Prague and to Mayor of Prague.


Eastland Centennial Commemorative Project

July 24th, 2015 – The Eastland Centennial Commemorative Project at BNC was designed to Remember the Eastland; the 100-year anniversary of the Eastland steamship disaster, which tragically claimed 844 lives in the Chicago River.   Despite the large number of victims from the capsized Eastland, this 1915 disaster has been referred to as “America’s forgotten tragedy.”   Chicago Czech Center coordinated AFoCR’s donation to this memorial.  Further, individual CCC and The KMDF directors participated with individual contributions.

July 12th, 2015 – Chicago Czech Center’s Chair, Kristyna Pellouchoud Driehaus, was a presenter during this event.

June 15th, 2015 – Chicago Czech Center and The KMDF hosted a luncheon for Northwestern University, Chicago University, Loyola University, and De Paul University scholars to meet Amb. Zantovsky.


Unveiling of “A Heart for Vaclav Havel” sculpture by the Mayor of Prague and the Mayor of Chicago

June 15th, 2015 – The ceremony was organized at the Chicago City Hall with special guests, such as the sculptors Gavlovsky and Svejda, Amb. Palous and Amb. Zantovsky, in attendance.

Filip Pogády Violin Recital

April 24th 2015 – Chicago Czech Center in cooperation with The KMDF and National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library presented, at the WAC, Filip Pogády, one of the most promising slovak violinists of his generation, one praised by the press for the beauty of his tone and his “lightning-like virtuosity”.


Bohemian Theatre Gala

March 14th, 2015 – Chicago Czech Center and The KMDF sponsored the Czech Community theater event.

Jewelry Exhibition at The Richard H. Driehaus Museum

February 28th, 2015  – Maker & Muse: Women and Early Twentieth Century Art Jewelry. CCC and The KMDF had private viewing of a magnificent Jewelry exhibition, which included several Mucha pieces, as well as a collection of other Bohemian and Czech pieces including some in the style of Mucha.  This event included post event reception at Bijon Bistro.
