As
a result of The KMD Foundation grant award, the Czech-language
theater group Divadlo Dech was
able to benefit from the expertise of Mr. Radek Balas, an accomplished
artistic director, choreographer, and writer from the Czech Republic,
to produce a musical that was met with great success. Due to popular
demand, Divadlo Dech is bringing the musical "Marilyn
Monroe" back to stage on Sunday, November 18, 2007 at 3 pm and
again at 7 pm in Besedni dum (2416 S. 61st Ave, Cicero, IL 60804). |

In
appreciation of the many collaborators and friends of The KMD Foundation,
and in honor of Ms. Jana Sevcikova’s visit to Chicago, we
are happy to host a small gathering on Tuesday, October 16th from
6:30 to 8:00 pm in the residence of Ms. Kristyna Driehaus. All
are welcome to enjoy the company of good friends and the limited
showing of "One Day in Prague" photographs by the Czech
artist and 2005 recipient of The KMD Foundation grant, Mr. Petr
Sobek.
Ms. Sevcikova has served as The
KMD Foundation’s Representative
in the Czech Republic since the Foundation’s inception in
2004. She has graciously offered her free time and professional
expertise to many successful projects and grant awards and we honor
her contribution. |

exhibition “One Day in Prague” that will take place
from October 12th through November 9th, 2007. Please see the attached

A medical student from Charles University
Medical School in Prague was accepted for The KMD Foundation’s
third annual Regina’s Hope Medical Program.
Participants in this program have a unique opportunity to complete
a month-long medical training in the Center for Cancer and Blood
Diseases at Children’s Memorial Hospital, where they work
as part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for the management
of complex patients with a variety of hematological conditions
and malignancies, including acute leukemia and lymphoma.

Prague
Days in Chicago Festival
The KMD Foundation is proud to co-sponsor and co-organize the 2007
Prague Days in Chicago festival. In collaboration with the
Prague Committee of the Chicago Sister Cities Int’l Program,
the Consulate General of the Czech Republic, and with other partners,
including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic,
and under the auspices of Lord Pavel Bém, Mayor of Prague,
H.E. Petr Kolár, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the United
States, and Chicago Mayor’s Office of Special Events, the festival
will feature a series of official, cultural, social, community, and
promotional events. A schedule of the various events that will be
taking place throughout the month of June 2007 can be found here.

The
Golden Prague Gala
As part of the Prague Days in Chicago festival, the Foundation
is co-hosting the Golden Prague Gala on Friday, June 29th, 6:30
p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Invitation for this evening of fine dining and
entertainment by the irresistible Ondrej Havelka and his Melody
Makers is available here.

Breakfast
Briefing: International Nonprofit Sector
The KMD Foundation is in addition collaborating
with the Kellogg School of Management to present a breakfast briefing
entitled: “International Nonprofit Sector and Its Contribution
to the Development of Economies in Transition.” This panel
discussion and networking event will feature speakers from the
Donors Forum of Chicago, the Prague Committee of the Chicago Sister
Cities Int’l Program, among other renowned nonprofit organizations,
and will include Hon. Tomas Chalupa, Mayor of Prague 6, Czech Republic,
who will discuss the role of nonprofits in his administration.

The
Kristyna M. Driehaus Foundation awarded a grant to the Czech-language
theater group in Chicago Divadlo Dech to support a professional
visit of Mr. Radek Balas, an accomplished artistic director, choreographer,
and writer from the Czech Republic. Mr. Balas’ extensive
experience in theater, dance, film and education will contribute
to the production of high-quality performances in the Czech community
in Chicago.
