The Kristyna M. Driehaus welcomed
the first two medical student participants of the annual Regina’s Hope Medical Program. This program,
which is fully managed and supported by The Kristyna M. Driehaus
Foundation, was created as a tangible expression of the Foundation’s
mission to offer a unique opportunity for students of medicine in
the Czech Republic to gain clinical and research experience in state-of-the-art
Chicago-area hospitals. Currently, the Foundation is collaborating
with Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Children’s
Memorial Hospital in Chicago and the Charles University Medical School
and Motol Hospital in Prague, Czech Republic.

The
Czech-language theater group Dech began entertaining in Chicago
in 2004. The theater crew, composed largely of volunteers, work
long hours to bring first class performances to the local Czech
community. Their hard work has already been rewarded by the successes
following Dech’s two plays: Divotvorny hrnec and Lotrando a
Zubejda. The Kristyna M. Driehaus Foundation has made a commitment
to assist Dech with program logistics as well as future grant support.

A grant was awarded to Spolecnost Renata, to support their upcoming
festival PadmaFest. This non-profit organization aims to create programs
in the areas of ecology, education, art and many others that support
the establishment of a healthy approach to living. Spolecnost Renata
manages the PadmaFarm organic farm, which is part of the World Wide
Opportunities on Organic Farm organization. For more information,

The
Kristyna M. Driehaus Foundation approveda three-year grant support
for Redmoon Theater, which agreed to develop a professional and
artistic link to the Czech community in Chicago and abroad. Redmoon
Theater creates theatrical spectacles that transform streets,
stages and architectural landmarks into places of public celebration
utilizing an original language capable of speaking across cultural,
ethnic and generational boundaries.

Free-lance photographer Petr Sobek
was awarded a grant to support his “Southeast
Asia in Photographs” exhibition. Mr. Sobek’s work
will be shown both in the Czech Republic (Prerov, Brno, Kromeriz,
Olomouc, Praha) and in the United States (New York, Chicago) during
